Straight answers

The things people actually ask us, answered without the run-around.

How long does it take? Both run as blended delivery: online learning and a knowledge assessment, plus a face-to-face practical. We recommend finishing the online part first; if your practical comes first, complete it within 5 days. CPR is about 4 hours online plus 2 in person; full first aid about 10 hours online plus 8 in person, or 5 in person on the refresher for people renewing a current first aid certificate.

How long does it last? The recommended refresh is every 12 months for CPR and every three years for first aid. CPR due? HLTAID009 is the annual update.

What do you walk away with? A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment (HLTAID009 or HLTAID011), issued within 30 days of completing assessment, once fees are settled.

What it doesn't do. It doesn't qualify you to teach first aid, and it doesn't replace your workplace's own emergency procedures.

What does it cost? Pricing is shown on each course below. Fees are confirmed in writing in your enrolment agreement before you commit.

Got a whole team? We run group sessions on-site at your workplace, so your team can train together.

Training on your own?

We deliver first aid as company and group bookings, and there are no public sessions scheduled at the moment. We generally train teams rather than individuals, but if you are training on your own, send us an enquiry and we will see whether we can set up a course for you.

How blended delivery works

Less time off work, same nationally recognised outcome. You complete the theory online in your own time, then attend a hands-on session to practise and be assessed.

1

Online theory

Work through the online learning and quizzes at your own pace, around 4 hours for CPR, 10 for full first aid. We recommend finishing this before your practical; if your practical comes first, complete it within 5 days.

2

Face-to-face practical

Attend an in-person session to practise and be assessed on the hands-on skills, about 2 hours for CPR, or 8 for first aid (5 on the refresher). We bring all the training equipment. Your workplace provides a room with clear floor space for CPR practice.

3

Statement of Attainment

Receive your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment within 30 days of completing assessment, once fees are settled.

Before you enrol

  • Commencement: there are no fixed start dates. Your practical session is booked with you or your organisation, and you attend it within 90 days of enrolling.
  • USI: you need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) before you start. It is free: create one at usi.gov.au, or we can apply for one for you with your permission.
  • Work placement: no work placement is required.
  • Licensing: no licensing or occupational licence requirement applies to this training, and completing it does not give you a licence. Some employers, sports and industries require a current first aid or CPR Statement of Attainment; that is their requirement, not a licence.
  • Third parties: Apex delivers and assesses all of its nationally recognised training itself. No third party delivers, assesses, recruits for or enrols learners into Apex's training on its behalf. Where a course includes coaching or work at your club or workplace, your supervisor there confirms your logbook entries; Apex's assessor makes every assessment decision.
  • Government funding: no government training entitlements or subsidies are available for this training. Apex does not hold a government funding contract, so every fee is fee for service, as set out on the fees and charges page.
  • Withdrawal: Need to withdraw? See how withdrawal and refunds work.
